Thangapazham Law College, Vasudevanallur, successfully organized a 7-day NSS (National Service Scheme) Special Camp aimed at community development and social awareness. The camp was held from 15th April 2025 to 21st April 2025 at Vasudevanallur village and witnessed the active participation of 50 dedicated NSS volunteers from the college.
The theme of the camp centered around social responsibility and community well-being, with a variety of impactful activities planned and executed over the week. The following programmes were the highlights of the camp:
Plantation Drive
Volunteers initiated a plantation drive to promote environmental sustainability. Various saplings were planted in and around the village, including on the school premises and public spaces, fostering green consciousness among the locals.
Legal Awareness Programme
In alignment with the students’ field of study, an informative legal awareness session was conducted. The volunteers educated villagers about their basic legal rights, women’s rights, and the importance of legal aid, empowering the community with knowledge of the legal system.
Fire and Safety Awareness Programme
A practical session on fire and safety was organized in collaboration with local fire service officials. Villagers and students were trained in basic fire safety measures, evacuation procedures, and handling emergencies, promoting a culture of preparedness.
Health and Hygiene Awareness Programme
Volunteers conducted a campaign on personal hygiene and public sanitation. Door-to-door interactions and street plays were used to emphasize the importance of cleanliness, especially in preventing communicable diseases.
Free Naturopathy Medical Camp
A free naturopathy medical camp was held with the assistance of professional naturopaths. Villagers availed consultation and treatments, and were guided on maintaining a healthy lifestyle through natural remedies and diet.
Temple Cleaning Drive
To instill a sense of cultural pride and community service, the volunteers participated in a temple cleaning drive. The activity not only revived the spiritual ambiance of the temple but also strengthened community bonds.
Throughout the camp, the spirit of selfless service and active citizenship was deeply embedded in every initiative. The villagers of Vasudevanallur warmly supported the volunteers, making the camp a memorable and enriching experience for all.
